I first met Big John when I was about 10 years old owing to my family being friendly with another Welsh International Leeds footballer Harold Williams. He was the most nicest person you could wish to meet. For a few years before Big John died, I spent quite a bit of time with Big John at Harolds and loved every minute of it. He could tell a great tale. The friendly banter between Harold and Big John was wonderful to hear. He was the best footballer ever to play for Leeds United. A TRUE GENTLEMAN. Thirkers
